Chase Online Credit Card Customer Service, Or Not
I bought something on Amazon on May 27th. I got an email that they were having problems with the credit card I used (which had a zero balance) so I asked them to try again. It still did not work so I switched cards. That solved the problem. The item shipped on May 28th.
Fast forward to today. More than a month later. The item showed up on my credit card statement. However, the full amount is also still listed as “pending charges.”
I emailed Amazon and asked them to stop holding the amount as the item was paid for and shipped. Amazon tells me that they are not holding it, but that the credit card company is. So, I log into the Chase online account and see the customer service secure message center. I email them, tell the the situation and how the more than 30 day hold is unacceptable and ask for it to be removed.
I get this response:

In order to assist you with your inquiry we must speak to you directly. Please call our Customer Service at the number listed below. We are available to assist you 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
If you have any further questions, please reply using the Secure Message Center.
Wow, how very helpful. It really should not be this difficult to remove a hold. Seriously.
